meeting also featured a final session led by the journalist
participants on communicating academic research to the
media, as well as a book discussion session on the
recently published volume Orthodoxy and
Fundamentalism, co-edited by scholar participant Davor
Dzalto.
In addition to these large group meetings, the initiative
has also sponsored smaller, scholar-specific events at
Fordham so that the Center could share the results of
our progress with wider audiences. For example, in
October of 2023, we hosted two scholars, Davor Dzalto
and Nadia Kizenko for large in-person talks. Dr.
Kizenko’s address served as the 2023 Economos
Orthodox in America Lecture and addressed the role of
human rights in the on-going disputes between

Ecumenical Patriarch and the Patriarch of Moscow. This
lecture will be printed in the Journal of Orthodox
Christian Studies.
Since the conclusion of the meetings, with guidance
from Leadership 100, the Center has continued to invest
in the translation and dissemination for previously
published content through our various channels, we have
also supported the continued publication of critical
studies advancing Human Rights and, especially, the
Ecumenical Patriarchate’s commitment to Human
Rights.
Project fellows have published numerous monographs,
edited volumes, book chapters, journal articles, and
online essays related to the project.
Ancient Faith Kids Initiative
Ancient Faith Radio continued the expansion of Orthodox
radio and media outreach for children with a $50,000 grant
from Leadership 100 in February of 2023, reaching its goal
to create broader, national, global exposure to the
Orthodox way of life to children, safely and truthfully,
according to Jerry Minetos, its Development Director.
The radio ministry launched the “Ancient Faith Kids’
channel on YouTube. Thus far, there are 10 “shows” on the
channel with production of more than 263 short videos
geared to children, introducing them to topics such as
icons, fasting and Saints, through animated stories, songs,
and activities. Viewership has already reached 5,320
followers.
Three focus points were used to determine the effectiveness
of the grant. First, the successful launch of the “Ancient
Faith Kids” YouTube channel with initial quality content.
Secondly, the continual development of content through
various ongoing themed shows for children that would
provide a variety to choose from. Finally, the ongoing
increase of viewers for those programs on a regular basis.
“Ancient Faith radio has achieved all three,” said Minetos.
